Rose Hill For Life
I began working on the Rocket Athletics website at the beginning of my junior year. I took keyboarding, desktop publishing, Photoshop, and computer applications from Mr. Wright as a freshman and sophomore. When I began as a junior, I mostly worked on the photo galleries. Now I’ve worked on almost every part of the website at some point during my webmaster career. I’m currently in charge of maintaining the homepage of Rocket Athletics. It’s been a great experience. I have had the privilege of working in class with Jesse Allen, Tim Cage, Jordan Reed, Haley Canfield, Ryan Parkey, and Madi Mermis. I will attend Pittsburg State University in the fall to major in Accounting. I’d like to thank Mr. Wright for giving me the opportunity to work on our school athletics website. It was fun to keep up with our school’s sports. I will miss Rose Hill! |
#RH4L
Since I’ve started working on Rocket Athletics, there hasn’t been a day that’s gone by that I haven’t been doing something to update or improve our website. Besides taking Photoshop, Flash, and Dreamweaver, being a webmaster for the past year and a half has broadened my knowledge on sports and on web pages in general. The second semester of my junior year I joined Rocket Athletics and was immediately trained to update box scores. That semester I worked with Jesse Allen, Ryan Parkey, and my best friend Kayla Collins. After Allen graduated in 2013, I also had the privilege of working with Madi Mermis my senior year. The beginning of my senior year, I reluctantly took the job of writing the articles for Rocket Athletics. Writing the articles has definitely been a struggle for me, but I think that it’s taught me more than any of my other classes in high school and I’m glad I took the opportunity when I had the chance. I’m proud to have been a part of one of the best student-run athletic web sites in the area. This year, Rocket Athletics had two new additions to the front page. We worked hard to add an interactive monthly calendar and the most recent tweets made by our twitter account, @rhathleticscom. In future years when I go to look at Rocket Athletics, I hope to see that it’s always improving for our students and fans. Because this was the first time the majority of the web masters have been girls, I’d also like to thank Mr. Wright for putting up with our endless gossip and always letting us listen to music. |

It's Been Real
This was my first year maintaining the Rocket Athletics website. I have taken several of Mr. Wright’s classes including Keyboarding, Computer Applications, Desktop Publishing, and Photoshop. I was excited when Mr. Wright asked me if I would be interested in helping out on the website. I love playing and supporting Rose Hill Sports and this has been a great experience to keep up with all the sports. Being the only newcomer this year, I had some big shoes to fill. I owe Mr. Wright and my fellow webmasters a huge thank you for being patient with me while I learned what to do the past year. It has been great to see my hard work pay off. I have really enjoyed it and have learned a ton this year. Thank you to Mr. Wright for giving me this opportunity and to everyone who uses the website! Next year I plan on attending Kansas State University and majoring in accounting. This class has been really fun; I will miss it! |
