Well Everyone... Its Been Fun
I started as a web master for Mr. Wright back in January of 2009. Since then, I have learned so much about web designing and development. On my first day, Mr. Wright told me that my job was to finish the tasks that Tyler Shirley or Josh Yates hadn’t been able to complete due to time constraints. That soon expanded to Learning the fundamentals of Flash and HTML. For the next year and a half, I worked on various interactive flash projects, and helped with the creation of Primary, Intermediate, Middle school, and High School Websites. But everything changed the first day of my senior year when Mr. Wright informed me that the school district had decided to go with the SOCS program. No less than two weeks after the new school year began, Mr. Wright had come to me with a new project, which would become rocketathletics.com. The new site pushed the web page staff to create one of the best sites you will see by any high school in the area. With generous funding by the Gridiron Club, we were able to purchase a domain and go live with rocketathletics.com. Soon after the athletic website was launched, I began working on the front page. Building the front page of rocketathletics.com took two months all together before it was officially launched. But all good things must come to an end. My stay here at Rose Hill High School is winding down. Next year I plan to attend Butler County Community College and major in Marketing. I intend on coming back to help out with rocketathletics.com, and continue to make it better. |

Thanks For Stopping By...
This was my first year maintaining the athletics page for our website. When Mr. Wright and I were discussing me taking over Tyler Shirley's position of writing the sports articles I have to admit I was very nervous because I knew I would have big shoes to fill. I was also very excited though, I love playing sports and supporting our Rose Hill High School athletic teams. I owe Mr. Wright a huge thank you because he has been very patient with me over the last year as I figured out what I was doing. I have became much more confident in my writing skills as well as my knowledge of sports. Being the first girl to maintain the athletics page, most people do not believe me when I tell them I spend an hour every day strictly talking about sports. Thank you to everyone who stopped in to read the articles, it is great knowing that my hard work pays off. Whoever takes over my position I hope they love and enjoy it as much as I have. |

This strange feeling... Since January of my Junior year, I've had the undertaking of cutting, copying, pasting, editing, creating, and just about every other computer action you can think of for Rose Hill's school district website, that is until the SOCS program came into effect. But Mr. Wright gave us a new project in August of that next school year: creating a website that's specifically for the athletics of Rose Hill High School. It took time and effort to build what you see here; the pictures, the scoreboards, the interactive flashes, the menubars, the slideshows, and every last bit was taken into account. Sure, the website itself isn't perfect, but how can it when it's run by several high school students? We made something ours. I have the opportunity to say, "Hey, you know that athletics website? I helped build that from the ground up." I'm proud of what I have done for Mr. Wright for the year and a half I've been in this program. I even asked him if I could take a teachers aid position just to do it two times a day. Sometimes the job has gotten a little... frustrating but then again, what job doesn't? I just hope that whoever fills my seat knows what they're getting into. Who knows, maybe I'll be doing work here again. Next year I haven't figured out what I'm going to do, but I know that I want to major in Computer Engineering/Science hoping to expand my knowledge in this field and maybe starting my own business. I just have this strange feeling that my work will never be done. |
