Rockets 10-Goal Vikings
The Lady Rockets took on Winfield at home on Tuesday, May 16th in the first round of Regionals and they came out with a 10-0 win. Paige Loeck scored goals in the 9th minute, 24th minute, 25th minute, 50th minute, 56th minute, and 70th minute for a total of five goals on the night. The other goals were scored by Kyia Kelly in the 19th minute, 24th minute, and in the 55th minute and Carys Moore in the 44th minute. The team had a total of 54 shots with 28 of them being in the first half and 26 in the second half. The Lady Rockets goalkeeper, Abby McCulloch, had one save with the save being in the second half. After the 10-goal victory over the Vikings, Head Coach Matt Henderson stated, "This was a great way to start off Regionals. I am really proud of all the girls and the way they moved on and off the ball. I am really looking forward to a tough game against Topeka Hayden on Thursday with an opportunity to get into the state quarterfinals. The girls have worked really hard for it all year long and I know they will make the most out of it.” The Lady Rockets, the #4 seed in the West Region, will host the Lady Wildcats of Topeka Hayden, the #5 seed in the West Region, on Thursday at 5 pm in the Regional Championship Game. The winner will advance to the State Quarterfinals next Tuesday.
